As I am riding this bus to my 4th consecutive track meet in as many days trying to ignore this obnoxious freshman girl behind me I figure I'll write up a quick recep of my weekend.
Saturday I headed to Akron for their Campbell Wright open. I was feeling sluggish Thursday and decided some rest was a good idea for Friday. In hindsight I don't think it helped much. Mentally and physically I felt ready as I could be. But still something felt 'off'.
I will say an issue I have is I don't have a routine anymore. Past 3weeks I've been toying with different windups and entries and even up till Akron I didn't have anything set in stone. Which is probably why I bombed ny first full turn over 50m yet opened with a whopping 44m. Yikes.
Once I got the nerves out a lil things calmed down and got somewhat back to where I should've been at the start. 2nd round went about 47.80 so I was in better shape there. Unfortunately I just couldn't find that stretch anymore that I accidentally discovered earlier. Everything then on just felt forced.
I did managed a sort of PR 5th round with a 48.25. I'll refer to these as my washed up meathead PRs. Mostly since I hurt my back all those years ago I havnt been anywhere near my old marks. Roughly I'm back to maybe when I was about 22 or so. Just older, slower, and fatter then when I was 22. So that's kind of sad.
Well thats my first meet roundup. Not much excitement but its a start. Next up is Ohio Wesleyan next Tuesday. Heard their ring is crazy fast. So that may work out for me.
