Now I havn't been able to dig up a whole lot of info about this design but I can only guess there were some budget cuts that needed to be made and this is the end result.
I mean I suppose if you have absolutely no intention to ever host any sort of competition there then sure this is a great idea. Except if you look closely, lanes are numbered, start and finish lines painted, and relay exchange zones are in place. Which means thats exactly what they intend to do. Beats me. Any guess as to how long this track is? Where are my math experts? Im guessing 500meters.
Whats even worse is if you look at the left side of the field you can see one shot pit and one disc ring. Definitely not a lot of work getting done there if they have a big team.
